Our guidance/PD primarily comes from our state education department (AZED). Do you work with these entities or only certain states who request resources?

Do you have resources for dually identified students such as English Learners and special ed. identified

As a case manager, I have been discouraged with writing detailed IEPs because we have a strict timeline to get them completed and are not given sufficient time to do so doing our work days. Writing effective IEPs is very time consuming, and although our district does its best, it feels impossible to assess students, schedule meetings, write the IEPs and conduct the meetings when we are teaching all day.

HI Julie, we have found that sometimes more writing doesn't mean better. When IEPs are too detailed it can create challenges especially when the students needs and circumstances change over time. I do know that this varies by state. I have worked in states in which the IEP as 5 pages on average where it averaged 50 pages in other states.

Thank you, Tessie! You make a great point! Concise language in the IEP should allow for a clear understanding of the path to progress while allowing for flexibility to get there!
